Your donations help us to support families like Kirstin’s.
Kirstin, Bodhi’s mum, discovered small charity Stepping Stones DS after learning that her son Bodhi had Down Syndrome at just 5 days old in hospital.
We are funding the ‘Get Moving’ project at Stepping Stones DS, helping children and young people with their strength and coordination.
This is Kirstin and Bodhi’s story.
“The first few weeks of his life were a whirlwind and quite daunting really, but I strongly remember wanting to connect with other parents.
I came across Stepping Stones DS once Bodhi had been discharged, and after initial contact learning about the charity I felt so relieved that I had found local support for us and Bodhi.
Since then, we have been welcomed into a community filled with warmth and armed with knowledge. I now look forward to taking Bodhi to his early development classes, connecting with other parents and carers at stay and play and we are really looking forward to starting the movement classes!
Bodhi is now almost one and is a cheeky, strong, determined, beautiful little boy. 2024 has been one of the hardest yet most rewarding years of our lives.
With Stepping Stones DS our family has been able to shine brightly and embrace the future, knowing we have full support for Bodhi to fulfil his potential and more. We can’t wait to celebrate Bodhi’s first Christmas!”
